How to start your public relations career

Most of us have to work for a living - and usually this process begins with going for a job interview. More often than not, we only have one opportunity to make a good impression.

You might be in that exciting phase of your life when you've completed your studies and are now ready to kick-start your career in public relations. But how do you go about taking those first steps? How do you ensure you are well prepared for what lies ahead?

This one-day workshop will provide participants with a toolbox of tips needed to prepare a CV that gets noticed, draft tailor-made cover letters to accompany the CV, as well as questions and answers to master in preparation for that important interview!

About our facilitator:
Lindy Goodfellow's credentials include over 20 years experience in corporate communication, strategic media relations, and internal and external communication in both public and private sectors.

For 10 years she headed strategic corporate communication and media relations for a global pharmaceutical company, and during her tenure interviewed numerous candidates for positions within the corporate communication division. Within this portfolio she also successfully appointed new corporate communication employees.

Lindy is currently the business owner of Jibba-Jabba Communication, a public relations consultancy specialising in the full range of public relations services. She also provides training and facilitation services for ProVox, PRISA, UNISA, as well as for Varsity College, lecturing on public relations, communication, media and business management, to name a few.

She is a Chartered Public Relations Practitioner (CPRP) and a registered member of the Public Relations Institute of South Africa (PRISA), under whose auspices she provides public relations training.

Lindy holds an Honours Degree in Counselling Psychology and a diploma in Public Relations Management.
