Spicing up your weekend with travel and food

The Weekender, Business Day's fledgling weekend paper, is launching a travel and food section called The Weekend Travel and Food Journal on 29 July 2006. "We positioned The Weekender as a newspaper that lasts for two days and with the addition of the Weekend Travel and Food Journal, we are sure that it will make for even more enjoyable and excellent reading," says editor Peter Bruce.

Bruce adds, "We are excited about adding a new lifestyle section to The Weekender especially one focusing on travel and food. We will be taking South Africans to new and interesting places and engaging with their experiences in lifestyle.

This is also an opportunity for us to toast the steady growth we have seen in subscriptions to The Weekender, which we hope demonstrates that we have struck the right chord with our audience".

The Weekend Travel and Food Journal will include stories about the most disastrous trips ever taken, told by the people who took them, as well as more successful trips. Other regular features will include visits to museums locally and abroad, travel and food book reviews as well as a wine column by connoisseur Michael Fridjohn. Maverick chef, artist and food-writer Kitchenboy will also tantalise taste buds in his unique manner.
