Creating a professional presence

This workshop will equip journalists with the skills required to start and design custom-domain blog, and teach participants how to effectively use various social media tools to create an online presence.

In a nutshell: We live in a digital age, making it essential for every journalist to have skills to survive online. A professional online presence is crucial. This includes knowing how to use social media for personal branding, and having an online portfolio to showcase one's work. This workshop will equip journalists with the skills required to start and design custom-domain blog, and teach participants how to effectively use various social media tools to create an online presence. (This course is suitable for beginners. A cursory knowledge of social media tools will be advantageous)

Outcomes: By the end of the course, trainees will be able to: * To be equipped with tips, tools and techniques to develop an online portfolio; *To understand how to increase web traffic to site through search engine optimisation and social media; *To understand the importance of an online presence, and to manage it in a professional manner, always being aware of how one is represented; * To know how to use social media tools for building audience community around content; *By the end of the course, participants will know how to use the full range of social media tools to effectively promote their work, and feel comfortable doing so.
