Gay and Lesbian Wedding Show

The only wedding expo in South African targeting the Gay and Lesbian market.

South Africa's second comprehensive Gay and Lesbian Wedding show returns to the Mother City at the exquisite 4-star Cape Town Lodge Hotel on the weekend of the 24 to the 25 November 2012.

With the passing of legislation allowing same-sex couples the right to marriage equality in 2006, this segment has been overlooked with ceremonies hidden in the closet. The show aims to provide a credible and exciting platform for brands to showcase their goods and services, thereby increasing their exposure and interaction with this lucrative - and often under-catered for - segment, which, although smaller, still has considerable buying power. With the purchasing power of the LGBT community, commonly referred to as the `Pink Rand', valued at millions of Rand, and approximately 10 % of the population estimated to be either gay or lesbian, this is the ideal opportunity for brands to benefit from the `pink rand' and strike gold - pink gold that is. The show will also demonstrate South African commercial enterprises' desire to access this untapped market segment and its appreciation of the sexual diversity prevalent in our society.

More than 30 exhibitors ranging from travel agencies, bridal wear designers, financial services providers, florists, caterers, photographers and make-up artists will be exhibiting at the show. In addition, various speakers will be presenting informative talks ranging from gay adoption, the legalities of gay marriage and perfect honeymoon destinations.

The objective of the show is to position and market South Africa as the ideal destination for gay and lesbian weddings, honeymoons and married couples who wish to settle in South Africa. It also aims to consolidate gay-owned and gay-friendly commercial entities into one supply chain that will not only boost job creation but also encourage new entrepreneurs to enter the industry.

The show will be a celebration of marriage equality in South Africa and an event not to be missed!
