Diana suite "preserved" at renovated Constantia mansion

The 10-bedroom mansion in Constantia in which Princess Diana lived when she visited Cape Town can be rented for a cool R450,000 a month or R5.4m for the year. It has been renovated, according to the Dogon Group website, but Diana's suite has been "preserved as it was".

When the Sunday Times wrote about the 2015 sale of the house, it had crystal chandeliers, silk ottomans and a powder room. It was bought by a European businessman. It has its own vineyards, a tennis court and a koi pond.

"We have not yet had a rental rivalling this for this area - or any other area in Cape Town - this is a record for us, if not a record in South Africa," said the CEO of the Dogon Group Denise Dogon.

The company recently signed a lease of R220,000 a month for a property in Bantry Bay. Dogon said the weaker rand is supporting the high-end rentals in Cape Town.

"The influx of ultra-wealthy business people and families from other provinces has also helped the Cape rental market as these former Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal residents often rent before buying," said Dogon.
