First ever News Design Conference for South Asia

CHENNAI, INDIA: WAN-IFRA and the Society for News Design (SND) have joined hands to organise the first ever News Design Conference in South Asia. The event will be held at New Delhi from 23-24 January 2012.

The conference will have focus sessions on newspaper design and redesign, information graphics and designing for online and tablets. The role of the newspaper designer is changing and, with increasing consumption of news on internet, mobile and tablets, it calls for new ways to present news design that appeals to traditional and new age readers.

Best practices from around the world and award winning design ideas will be presented at the conference. Confirmed speakers include Tyson Evans of The New York Times' Interactive News Desk, Adonis Durado of Times of Oman, Abel Robinson of MINT from HT Media Ltd, Deepak Harichandan of The Times of India, Douglas Okasaki of Gulf News, Hans Peter Janisch, newspaper designer from Germany and Sukriti Gupta of MMI Online from Jagran Prakashan, India.
