Green Nedbank keeps getting greener

Nedbank Corporate Property Finance continues to pour money into green buildings after granting a loan to the Improvon Group to buy and install the reticulation on land in Gosforth Business Park, so it can develop the first phase of a warehouse with ancillary offices.

Nedbank's regional executive Ken Reynolds says the "green precinct" is being built with cutting-edge technology and the building practices on site may become the industry standard.

Stefano Contardo, developments executive at Improvon, says: "We are proud to say that Gosforth Business Park's green features take sustainability to a new level. This is a particular bonus for tenants, who are able to fulfil their obligation to reduce their environmental footprint at a minimal cost," he claims.

Contardo says that all excavated material is being crushed and reused and each building has a rain water attenuation system to recycle the water that is used in toilet cisterns. To reduce energy consumption, each building has a photovoltaic system which reduces reliance on Eskom.

The buildings are being insulated and double-glazed to regulate internal temperatures.
