On 7 March, 650+ people gathered in Kirstenbosch Gardens to witness the Birth of Endless Summer, which is the backdrop of The Endless Summer, the most-watched documentary of all time (in any genre), which was published in 1965.

Richard Yelland, the Emmy Award-winning director, follows weathered Californian surf pioneer Dick Metz as he travels the world from 1958 to 1961, and then returns to South Africa decades later.

A new short documentary video And yet, I stay, made by Rick Wall and Dougal Paterson, launched the film, which portrays Caleb Swanepoel, who lost his leg to a great white shark in 2015 while surfing in Buffels Bay in the Southern Cape.
