AMASA's 2nd annual Golf Day

AMASA's second annual Golf Day was a great success with huge participation from the advertising and media industry. "Glendower, Johannesburg's top rated course was true to form, a tough challenge for our field," says Rob Smuts, chairman. Deputy chairman Brad Aigner was jokingly heard saying "the fairways were not too fair, the greens too quick, the wind too strong, the pin positions too tight, the rough too rough - but apart from that we had a great round."

Friends and colleagues of AMASA tee'd off around noon on the 11th of July at Glendower Golf Course on the East Rand. By the end of the evening, golfers were rewarded with their favourite beverages to ease aches and pains that were gathered throughout the day.

"Our guest speaker was 94.7 Highveld Stereo's very own Graeme Joffee," says Rob. "Joffers was on top form."

Post dinner, it was time to get down to serious business - raising funds for AMASA to further media education in South Africa. "Thanks to the support we received again this year, we were able to raise much needed funds to add to our bursary initiative," says Rob. "But next year, we would like to see more media agency participation for our auction, which presents an opportunity to buy some really great media deals."

"Enormous thanks to our committee members Bonita Carr and Kirsten Randall who ensured that this monumental task ran smoothly, Brad Aigner who MC'd the evening so professionally and to our sponsors SABC Radio sales, Oracle Airtime Sales, Clear Channel, ETV, Beeld, ComutaNet, Caxton Magazines, Stone Soup/MarketingWeb, BizCommunity, NAB, Cinemark, Primedia Outdoor, The Weekender, RMS Media, The Gourmet Garage, The Barnyard Theatre, The Letter Corporation, The Home Channel, Freshly Ground Insights (FGI) and Get It magazines.
