As we expand into the rapidly growing world of Vertical Drama, we're looking for an exceptional Creative Producer to help us establish this exciting new division within the company.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape how vertical dramas are developed and produced in South Africa and to be part of a team pioneering a new era of mobile-first storytelling.

About the role

The creative producer will work closely with our executive producers, writers, directors and production teams to oversee the creative development and execution of a slate of vertical drama series.

We're looking for someone who understands great storytelling, thrives in a collaborative environment, and can balance creativity with practical production realities.

While experience in vertical drama is an advantage, we recognise that this is still an emerging format. We're equally interested in hearing from experienced scripted producers who are excited to help build something new.

Requirements

Key responsibilities

Story development

• Work closely with writers to develop engaging, commercially viable vertical drama concepts.
• Provide creative feedback on treatments, outlines and scripts.
• Ensure stories maintain strong pacing, emotional engagement and compelling cliffhangers throughout the series.
• Support the creative development process from concept through to production.

Production

• Collaborate with the executive producers and directors to realise the creative vision for each project.
• Balance creative ambitions with production schedules and budgets.
• Identify and resolve creative and production challenges.
• Oversee projects from development through final delivery.

Editorial

• Review edits throughout post-production.
• Ensure each episode delivers maximum audience engagement and retention.
• Maintain consistency in tone, pacing and storytelling across each series.

Leadership and collaboration

• Build strong relationships with writers, directors and crew.
• Mentor emerging creative talent where appropriate.
• Foster a collaborative and solutions-driven working environment.

Industry and innovation

• Stay up to date with global trends in vertical drama and digital storytelling.
• Bring new ideas, formats and storytelling techniques into the development process.
• Help shape Stained Glass Productions' long-term strategy within the vertical drama space.

Minimum requirements

• Minimum of 5 years' experience producing scripted television, film or digital content.
• Strong story development and script analysis skills.
• Experience working with writers and script development processes.
• Excellent organisational and project management skills.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• A passion for innovative storytelling and developing new content formats.

Advantageous
Experience in one or more of the following will be highly advantageous:

• Vertical drama or micro-drama productions.
• Short-form scripted content.
• Mobile-first storytelling.
• Digital-first content platforms (such as ReelShort, DramaBox, TikTok, YouTube Shorts or similar).
• Fast-turnaround scripted production environments.
• Audience engagement and content performance strategies.
• An understanding of AI-powered creative tools and how they can be used responsibly to support story development, script development, research and production workflows.
