Responsibilities:

• Improve team processes and practices
• Proactively seek out issues to improve code quality
• Pay attention to both functional and non-functional requirements
• Stay updated with new technologies within the data landscape
• Ensure data quality, performance, and reliability through automated testing, monitoring, and proactive issue resolution
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, deliver data solutions, and optimise processes

Qualifications and experience:

• Degree in statistics, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field
• Eight+ years of relevant experience
• Excellent understanding of relational databases, SSIS/SSAS/SSRS, and SQL Server features
• Proficiency in SQL Server in a highly transactional environment
• Advanced knowledge of TSQL, query plans, and the RDBMS engine
• Ability to model data based on requirements and provide system design recommendations
• Strong understanding of DevOps principles and experience with tools such as Azure DevOps for CI/CD, automation, GIT, and infrastructure management
• Consideration of non-functional requirements (security, archiving, etc.) when developing or reviewing code
• Knowledge of programming languages like Python, Powershell, or C#
• Experience with cloud technologies, particularly Azure services such as Databricks and Event Hubs
• Experience or knowledge of Docker or similar technologies
• Experience or knowledge of Kubernetes (K8)
• Exposure to working with financial data sets
