Job description
As a leader, you need to inspire the donor relations team to deliver measurable, cost-effective results that make the vision a reality and consistently meet our fundraising targets. Importantly, the successful individual will have the skills, sensitivity, and personal confidence to tap into individual strengths to build a high-performing team. While it is essential that you bring efficient and effective operational systems to increase the productivity of the team, an important part of your responsibility will include building relationships with external stakeholders that will assist in the raising funds and enhance the awareness of the CHT brand. You will form part of the senior leadership team and will work in partnership with the CEO and other head of departments including finance, projects, and human resources.

You will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Leading the operations of the Donor Relations team in terms of donor acquisition and retention, ensuring that the financial goals are achieved.
- Working in partnership with the CEO and senior leadership team, create the 3-year strategic plan and coordinate the annual Donor Relations budget and operations plan.
- Work in partnership with the CEO to create the three-year income budget and will be responsible for monitoring annual income for the organisation.
- Oversee donor relations budget and ensure the expenses are in line with the allocated budget.
- Build and maintain key relationships with key internal and external stakeholders that will result in funds for our beneficiaries.
- Lead the donor relations team and ensure:
o Planned activities are implemented on time, within budget and of high quality
o Implement monitoring and evaluation systems and processes to determine which strategies or activities are successful.
o Lead the performance management process that measures and evaluates individual and team progress against goals for the organisation
o Provide a strong day-to-day leadership presence that provides clear direction for the team, but also creates an inspiring space for innovation
- Lead and manage internal support systems and structures that will create an environment for an innovative high performing team
- Provide well written proposals and reports for various stakeholders. Oversee organisational storytelling and communication to the public.
Qualifications and Experience needed:- At least 10 years proven experience in leadership and part of a senior management team.
- Qualification in a Communication/ Marketing/ Fundraising/ Business Administration
- Experience in fundraising/ marketing/public relations/ strategy and budgeting that has resulted in substantial donations/ income.
- Proven track record of facilitating innovative and creative thinking in an organisation.
- Have sound knowledge and a proven track record of efficient and effective systems to increase the productivity.
- Proven track record of leading a high-performance team with very specific goals with the experienced in leading and managing a complex team.
- Have a proven track record in building relationships that has resulted in increased income
- Experience in storytelling, report writing and proposal writing. Grant based writing will be an advantage.
- Previous experience in working in/ with a non-profit environment will be an advantage.
- Experience in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships or relationships which includes external stakeholders and donors.
- Track record of overseeing innovative creative thinking and fresh ideas to an organisation.
