The right ingredients are necessary to bake the perfect cake! Creativity, passion, innovation, tenacity, drive, people skills, integrity, responsibility...beat, bake, decorate, admire & most importantly enjoy!
The not so brave will say...wow you changed careers from investment banking to fashion! The brave say...wow why not?Regardless of industries the same principles always apply across the board. Passion, the determination to learn and grow, the boldness to share your creative and innovative ideas for the greater good of the company and team, the willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done no matter what and a personal favourite...integrity! Yes having moved from Investment Banking to the Fashion Industry, I have gained vast experience within the fashion industry. Fashion and Publicity PR Manager for Edcon; Fashion Editor for Essentials magazine; freelance fashion stylist for clients such as Johnson&Johnson, Ackermans, Hectic 9, etc - to add to my resume I have styled music videos, researched the local fashion export market, presented trend analysis across ladies and mens wear, inspired creative collaborations, implemented brand building/pr and media strategies, conceptualised media day and product launch events, coordinated fashion shows, am a competent writer of press releases and am a fine copy editor. And my personal favourite pioneered Pre-Loved, the 2nd hand initiative aimed at raising the awareness of the carbon footprint of clothing in Cape Town, South Africa and beyond! I see the top, bottom, flat and round sides of the cake! With world economies and creative agencies taking strain, the call for creative and innovative ideas during these harsh times should be embraced with arms wide open. There is much to be done with the world as our mixing bowl...it is your choice as to whether you choose to use the wooden spoon, the egg beater, the spatula, the electric beater or quite simply...your finger...
