What word rhymes with orange? We think it's courageCourage for victims of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) to ask for help. Courage to take action and change a life. Courage to build a culture of active citizenship and human rights.
"Orange the world: End violence against women now!"As a bright and optimistic colour, orange represents a future free from violence against women and girls. #OrangeTheWorld is the social media campaign that unifies all activities to bring global attention to the initiative. The annual #16Days campaign aims to raise awareness about gender-based violence, including sexual assault, domestic violence, honour-based violence, forced marriage and female genital mutilation. "One in three women experiences violence in their lifetime, across all social statuses, class, race, country or age group." Source: UnWomenCovid-19 has created new urgency for action. Isolation and distancing measures, coupled with stress, anxiety, social and economic worries, may increase the risk of violence in the home. As risk factors for violence increase, protective factors decrease, including access to needed health and protection services. At the heart of the campaign is the need to change attitudes. We are all responsible for ending these crimes, and we must demand accountability from those who commit violence, those who condone it, those who allow it to happen and those who fail to prevent it from happening. Everyone can #OrangeTheWorld to end violence against women now.

My Personal Lifeline (MPLL) provides lifelines to victims of crime. Although the first "lifeline" created was to support victims of domestic violence, it also covers victims of rape and assault, home invasions and hijacking. "We wanted to make MPLL accessible to everyone. At a fee of R149pm, a family will receive immediate crime victim assistance relevant to the crime, and this includes essential legal cover to ensure that justice is served," Lucy Kalify, sales director of CDA Solutions.
