Nominations for Boss of the Year 2004 now open

The search for the top boss in South Africa for 2004 has officially begun. At the official launch of the award which took place at the Carlton Centre's 'Top of Africa' in Johannesburg.

Riah Phiyega, group executive corporate affairs of Transnet, paid tribute to the achievements of the award over the years, in the role it has played in sensitising the corporate and public sectors to sound workplace leadership practices, and also highlighted how important a catalyst it has been in creating rolemodels.

During the history of the award, the organisers have seen how the changing workplace in general, and the changes within South Africa in particular have manifested themselves in the nominations – the more recent manifestation being the emergence of very strong women candidates, to the point that both in 2002 and 2003, the title went to a woman leader.

With the Transnet Foundation as patron of the award and organised by the magazine Career Success, the focus remains on bosses who inspire, empower and care for their employees.

Meritorious workplace leaders, regardless of their designation  – supervisors, head of departments, managers, CEOs, MD's, chairpersons, owners of small businesses -  can be nominated. The entry form is available in the magazine Career Success, which can be obtained at CNA branches.

The closing date for nominations is 30 July 2004 and the winner will be announced on 15 October 2004.
