ZAG partner with GALXCOC and World of Golf to drive golf initiative
Zinto Activation Group (ZAG) has partnered with Greater Alexandra Chamber of Commerce (GALXCOC) and World of Golf to uplift and upskill students from Reotile High School in Alexandra Township through the sport of golf. The initiative runs from 14 September to 28 September 2011 and 20 students have been selected for the roll out and implementation phase of the golfing corporate social investment campaign. Moving forward the programme will rely on corporate sponsorship to fund individuals who demonstrate both natural talent and learned skill for the sport.
The golf initiative is aimed at developing both the physical and mental skills of the students by equipping them with the expertise needed to succeed both on and off the course. The training focuses on best practice around the handling of golf equipment, posture and standing techniques, and driving and putting. The students are split into groups and allocated to various golfing coaches who guide them. The coaches are able to identify natural talent and groom these students to develop their talent into a career. The training also focuses on the non-technical aspects of character building such as discipline, focus, commitment and perseverance and applying these traits to everyday life in order to achieve success.
ZAG and GALXCOC collect the students from schools in Alexandra and transport them to World of Golf in Woodmead. En route they are addressed by Xoli Zulu , a fellow resident of Alexandra and an avid golfer, who inspires and motivates through his story on how golf equipped him with the skills needed to overcome negative barriers and effectively use his energy in a positive way to achieve success. These tools enable the students to grow themselves through goal-setting and achievement regardless of their circumstances.
ZAG intends to roll the project out to as many schools as possible with the aim of uplifting individuals through skills development, healthy living and sporting success. Individuals or corporates interested in making a contribution and supporting the cause through sponsorship can contact Xoli Zulu on (011) 553 1000 or Ryan Braybrooke at World of Golf on (011) 545 8683.
