DStv Media Sales assists the ABF with a bumper 150k airtime
DStv Media Sales has provided the ABF Vital Support Fund with R150 000 worth of advertising space to auction or sell.
"This sponsorship is vital to the ABF, there is simply no way we can try and auction media or advertising space without donations like DStv Media Sale's valuable contribution. It makes our offering to the media buyers much more sweet," says vice president of the ABF, Sharlene Vallance.
DStv Media Sales has supported of the ABF for a numerous years, making a material difference to its budget.
"Advertising space that is donated to us enables us to either auction it at one of our events or sell it on to media buyers. This ensures an even cash flow throughout the year and allows the ABF to do what it's meant to do - give the funds away to deserving cases, to people who have served this industry for a long time and have fallen on hard times," says Riana Stander, ABF treasurer.
"If the effects of the recession are decreasing in certain industries, we are certainly not yet feeling the lift. We receive new pleas for help on a daily basis and it is with this objective in mind that we need to raise awareness and much-needed funding to fulfil our mandate," she adds.
Vallance adds, "The ABF is finding it difficult to compete with certain industry stakeholders who have allocated much-needed funds to their own CSI projects. Luckily stalwart supporters of the ABF, like DStv Media Sales and others, has always done whatever is necessary to assist the organisation in times of need."

The ABF is a non-profit organisation helping those in the advertising, media and allied industries that have fallen on hard times. Amongst its many contributions, the ABF, in conjunction with Lifeline have a dedicated 24/7 call centre line for people in the Advertising, Media and related industries who need counselling or treatment for stress, HIV/AIDS and substance abuse problems. The ABF also provides study in the field to deserving, underprivileged students with institutions like the AAA School of Advertising.
