Thebe Exhibitions and Projects now manages helloAFRICA
The Thebe Exhibitions and Projects Group has taken over the management of destination management company helloAFRICA. The Cape Town-based company offers destination management solutions such as incentive and corporate travel and meetings and event management in South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Mozambique and Namibia.
Its services include programme and event design, destination and accommodation management, conference registration, team building, speakers and promotional material and gifting.
Group Managing Director Carol Weaving says this step brings together two organisations that serve a very dynamic target market. “It makes good business sense to pool resources to the benefit of business tourism, a huge contributor to the South African economy.”
helloAfrica's Acting General Manager, Adriaan Fourie says this is an opportunity that bodes well for both organisations. “The expertise that the combined team will bring to the industry will definitely be a force to be reckoned with. We look forward to working with Weaving in this fast moving, highly competitive industry and to offer our clients the enhanced advantage of pooled resources and expertise.”
helloAFRICA won a Crystal Award at the Society of Incentive Travel Executives' (SITE) international conference in Montreux, Switzerland today for its automobile financial service programme in the category for travel reward programmes for four or more nights for under 200 participants. This award recognises the best in international incentive events and being recognised by the international travel industry is a huge honour.
Fourie has just been appointed to the South African board of SITE, which has selected South Africa as the host country for its international conference in December 2010. This event will bring approximately 350 international leaders from the multi-billion dollar global incentive travel industry to Cape Town, one of Africa's most celebrated incentive destinations.
Weaving has a proven record of a sound and forward thinking management style and business acumen, also in business tourism.
In 2005 she led the 70 percent acquisition of Thebe Exhibitions and Events - formerly South Africa RAI - by the Thebe Tourism Group in a well applauded BEE partnership, opening many a door of opportunity for clients. She is at the cutting edge of the exhibition and events business in Africa, leading one of the continent's most successful exhibition and events organisations. She has ensured dramatic market share increase - the Thebe group now owns numerous exhibition titles including show portfolios of the strongest exhibition brands in Southern Africa like Decorex, the World Holiday and Travel Fair and the Franchise and Business Opportunities Expo.
