Speaking about their contribution to the Decorex SA portfolio/Decorex Durban event, Cairey Slater, Decorex Durban General Manager, said that "As the main Decorex SA sponsor, Plascon have reaffirmed their position as a major player in South Africa's décor and design industry. In keeping with their tagline 'Change it. Love it', Plascon will be showcasing ways in which to change your space with a coat of paint, as well as exhibiting how colour plays such a major part in our lives." Referring to Plascon's 2012 Colour Forecast, Slater said "colour trends are very influential in both fashion and décor, and each year our many visitors look forward to the launch of the new Plascon colour palette which is consistently on trend, locally and internationally."
Entitled 'Endless Possibility', the Plascon 2012 Colour Forecast is composed of hues inspired by the themes of Memory, Expression, Mystery and Origins. According to Anne Roselt, Plascon Colour Manager, "The 2012 Colour Trends are a reflection of our current social climate - the mood of society, they highlight our needs and our desires. We are influenced by what we read and hear in the news, the economy, nature and the environment, pop culture, movies, technology and fashion. While some flock to the safety of neutrals in uncertain times, others desire the uplifting properties of bright colours."
With all this in mind, Plascon developed their key directions for 2012, expressed as the four different themes of Memory, Expression, Mystery and Origins. Memory consists mostly of soft pastels inspired by the past, whilst Expression's optimistic bright colours are linked to current events. Mystery relies on rich deep hues and metallics to represent the future, and Origins uses modern neutral colours to reconnect us to our roots. Roselt said that "how you interpret these trends depends on your own unique personality and style. Colour is something to be enjoyed and the 'Endless Possibility' trends are broad brushstrokes on how to do that."
The four colour connoisseurs who will be interpreting the four 2012 Plascon palettes in a four room concept stand at Decorex Durban are Michelle Throssel (Memory), KOOP and the Shaw Sisters (Origins), Ruth Duke (Mystery) and Laurence Brick (Expressions) who will be designing a bedroom, lounge, dining room, and office respectively. The Plascon stand will no doubt be providing much creative inspiration for the many Durban decor enthusiasts who will be flocking to the tenth edition of one of South Africa's most highly anticipated home living exhibitions.
The expertly conceptualised event forms part of the Decorex SA portfolio, which will also see exhibitions held in Cape Town (26-29 April 2012) and Johannesburg (8-12 August 2012), and will feature a range of high end exhibitors, workshops and demonstrations characterized by home trends and products at the forefront of their respective industries. Between 21 - 25 March 2012, the Durban Exhibition Centre will be filled to the brim with a combination of the very best in décor, design and home living.
