This year's championship held in Kempton Park showcased well known street dancers who competed against each other in krumping) and B-boy dance-offs. The competition was judged by a panel of experienced dancers including Kyle Verbeek, Pacou Mutombo and Darin Da Paxio. Most Wanted B-Boy crew took this year's title when defending champions Buck Fam lost in the first round against their newfound rivals ET Krump Fam. Performers from Creed, Relapz, Perplexed and KNF were also given the opportunity to showcase their dance moves on stage.
Renowned recording artist, JR, brought down the house with his local rap flavour and live performance. But it was Oscar von Memerty who really stole the show with his motivational talk coupled with hip hop dance, which inspired and entertained the crowd. Oscar received a standing ovation, a true testament to his talent for dance and the impact of his life story.
IDO World Dance Champion, Anuq Wilson, had the following to say about the production: "As a fellow dancer, I am grateful for events such as Big Bang which introduce a unique concept to the dance scene. I thank Freeze Frame for enlisting judges with the right experience every year so that the dancers are equally judged ? this ensures fairness in every genre and all the dancers leave with a sense of accomplishment knowing that the most deserving crew won."
Brandon B.Styles Grobler, the manager and founding member of Freeze Frame Crew commented, "We would like to thank our sponsors and supporters Fubu Clothing, Hype Magazine and Move Industries without whom this event would not have been possible. Special thanks to Fubu Clothing for donating the prizes and giveaways and Kudor equipment for supplying the staging, lighting, sound and equipment. We would also like to give a shout-out to MCs Elly Majola and Tshego Malepe, who did a fantastic job hosting the event by creating hype and keeping the crowd energised."
For the finale, Freeze Frame Crew executed a 20-minute show embracing the elements of hip hop in a choreographed sequence of smooth, aggressive and high-energy routines.
