In the run up to this dinner, the Zinto Activation Group (Zinto), a brand activations and entertainment company, had facilitated an educational road show at schools to communicate key hair care messages to the youth. The young women were encouraged to enter the competition element of the road show, called 'Best Friend Friday', which required them to write a short essay to Nolo to explain why they were inspired by her.
Three of the top entries were chosen and along with their best friend they joined Nolo for dinner at the Queen of the Nile Restaurant at Emperors Palace. The girls were chauffeured to the hotel where they had their hair styled by a professional celebrity stylist. The young women were then treated to a night of fine dining and a once in a lifetime opportunity to interact with their role model. Thereafter, they spent the evening at the five-star Peermont D'oreale Grande hotel and returned home the next day with product hampers to maintain their healthy new hairdos.
Of these six girls only one had been to a hotel before and the experience was a welcome first that was met with much enthusiasm.
The competition winners describe the experience as follows: "I am very happy that I was chosen to have dinner with Nolo because she is an inspiration to me," says Ntombifuthi.
Pearl adds, "The experience gave me the opportunity to ask Nolo about her career, the entertainment industry and to learn more about healthy hair and using the Easy Waves products."
Lindiwe concludes, "The Easy Waves competition enlightened me to the simple things, such as having your hair done, that can make a refreshing impact on one's life."
