Danone NutriDay schools programme shows growth in 2013

Currently in its second year infield, the Danone NutriDay schools programme, aimed at reaching 1,000 schools across Gauteng, Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal, continues to educate, thrill, and delight SA learners and teachers alike.

As part of the programme, the Danone NutriDay team delivers curriculum aligned educational content to schools.

The content covers three core messages including a healthy body, which emphasises the importance of good personal care for healthy living; a healthy world, which focuses on the importance of looking after our planet; and a healthy mind, which encourages young children to eat the foods that will 'feed' their brain.

This year personalised school deliveries to the 1,000 Danone NutriDay schools in February 2013 were completed successfully.

In Phase I of the programme, trained Box Squad members visit schools and explain to educators how they can maximise the use of the material in their class lessons.

Phase II of the Danone NutriDay programme then kicks off. The objective of this phase is to motivate and encourage learners to enter the Danone NutriDay 3D-model building competition; and also to assist teachers with any questions they may need answered about the teaching material provided to them through the Box Squad deliveries. This phase is carried out through a series of workshops in schools to additionally encourage teachers to use the material as a part of their planned lessons.

Phase III of the NutriDay Schools programme kicked off in June 2013 with the collection of some fantastic 3D-models.

In 2012 over 310,000 tubs of yoghurt were distributed through this incredible sampling drive.

The 2012 Danone NutriDay programme culminated in a fantastic judging event and school prize handovers. NutriDay judges and guest judges gathered at the Pick n Pay Institute in Johannesburg for the final judging event.

After receiving an overwhelming (over 5,000) number of entries into the national competition in its first year of running, this year the Danone NutriDay team aims to not only increase the number of entries through encouraging increased involvement with the brand, but also to further entrench trial through sampling, and brand engagement through the continued delivery of beneficial educational content.

Infield feedback also indicates high levels of satisfaction amongst teachers who are exposed to the programme.
