30 years as a woman in techI recently told someone about how I got started working in the software industry, and in recounting my story, I realised that September of this year will mark 30 years that I have been working in tech. My first thought was "that's impossible - I can't be that old"! And yet, it was in September of 1989 that I took my first tech job as a senior technical writer at Adobe when the company had only a few hundred employees. First Girl Geek Summit to get more disadvantaged girls into STEMLocal non-profit organisation, Africa Teen Geeks, is launching a new flagship event to inspire 100 high school girls from disadvantaged communities to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The summit is sponsored by financial services company MMI Holdings (home to Momentum and Metropolitan) and virtual reality development agency Apodytes. The inaugural Girl Geek Summit will take place from Friday 28 to Saturday 29 June 2019 at their head office in Centurion.
