Our Client, an NPO based in the Southern Suburbs, is seeking a specialised professional nurse who will be doing community work in Grassy Park, Wynberg and Lotus River and surrounding areas. The NPO works closely with home-based carers to cater for the needs of all patients in their care. The primary role of the Professional Nurse would be to oversee these carers in a Supervisory role.
The successful candidate would be hardworking, compassionate, have physical endurance and have excellent problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate would also display empathy, punctuality and be flexible. This role would require the successful candidate to have a passion for working in a community-based setting.
Key duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide a comprehensive primary healthcare service
- General administration
- Administer and record medical history and symptoms of clients
- Collaborate with the team/carers to plan for patient care
- Advocate for the health and well-being of the client
- Educate the carers on management of illness
- Administer medications and treatments of clients
- Visit homes of patients/clients occasionally
- Strengthen health care activities among carers within a community-based setting
- Assisting with screening of COVID-19
- Support all health care campaigns as required
- Administering vaccinations and educating carers on different vaccinations
- Educate carers on different dressing methods
- Ensure that the carers are Health and safety compliant
- It is a prerequisite that the applicants be registered with SANC
- Candidates must have outreach experience (community work)
- National Senior Certificate (Grade 12 or equivalent)
- Relevant nursing degree or diploma
- Driver’s license and own vehicle compulsory
- Reside in or around the Southern Suburbs
