Job description

A position exists in the tourism sector based in Franschhoek for an energetic operations manager to oversee the operations of the business including a fleet of vehicles, drivers and the general maintenance of the companies assets.

Responsibilities and duties:

A dependable, energetic operations manager who can deliver on running a safe, reliable logistics operation while maintaining all legally required inspections regarding safety and maintenance with a small dedicated team. The candidate must maintain a disciplined but pleasant and open working environment.

• Daily allocation of staff and vehicles
• Daily allocation of maintenance staff
• Ensuring communication with the sales department on daily progress or any issues
• Ensuring continuous compliance of staff with SHEQ, quality and other operational policies and procedures responsible for response to incidents, accidents, breakdowns and investigation into customer complaints
• Evaluating of staff
• Manage adherence to all equipment and maintenance schedules and prompt repair of any wear and tear, faults and damages
• Managing all operational costs including but not limited to shift structures, fuel usage, vehicle and building maintenance, vehicle repairs as well as maintenance and repair sourcing
• Maintaining a disciplined environment of collegiality and collaboration among staff

Minimum requirements

• Grade 12
• Degree or National Diploma in Transport Management/operations
• SHEQ qualification
• Minimum of five years experience in a senior operations position
• High level of computer skills including excel
• Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to work flexible hours
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think out the box
• Strong HR skills
• Technical vehicle knowledge is paramount
