Role purpose:

The Forum has an exciting, opportunity bearing but demanding role in our Bryanston office. We are looking to employ an experienced and driven candidate in the capacity of an accountant with the necessary qualification for the role. The incumbent will assist the financial manager with various duties to produce monthly accounts, compiling budgets and supervise the accounting staff.

Key tasks and outcomes:

Month-end financial processing
  • Check allocations and approve supplier and sundry payments
  • Load payments in standard bank EFT system
  • Check and process credit card expenses (Amex, Standard Bank and Nedbank CC)
  • Update cashbook daily and reconcile to bank
  • Check and load refunds and commission payments
  • Update fixed assets register when purchases are made and reconcile ledger to fixed assets ledger
  • Capture depreciation for the period and reconcile to ledger
  • Calculate and prepare sales incentives and waiters tips monthly
  • Petty cash handling and processing. Reconciling to ledger
  • Process separate Embassy Hill financials and recon to bank
Payroll administration
  • Review and check monthly payroll with payroll administrator and send to managers for approval
  • Once approved to upload into Standard bank EFT for payment
  • Process journals for cost allocations once payments are processed.
  • Reconcile Salary control account and Bank monthly
  • Processing of staff loans and savings account entries and reconciled to banks and ledger
Month-end statutory payments
  • Vat and PAYE calculations and payments monthly
  • Check all payroll reports (Pension fund contributions, Medical aid contributions) and check against salary deductions.
Month-end controls

And general
  • Reconcile all bank and credit card control accounts
  • Reconcile all balance sheet control accounts
  • Analyze all expense accounts and check for correct allocations and ensure all entries captured for month before closing off
  • Prepare monthly journals for discrepancies
  • Follow up on outstanding debtors with debtors controller
  • Ensure all documents required by auditors are up to date
  • Prepare necessary documents for BEE audit with HR input
  • Ensure supplier and customer application forms are completed and obtain sign off
  • Handle the day to day job performance of the staff members under your control

  • Strong computer knowledge with expertise in MS Excel and Powerpoint
