Job description

  • Ensures that short, medium and long-term programs are carried out
  • Maintains and monitors schedules and forecast of labour, materials, plant and sub-contractors
  • Facilitate fortnightly site management and sub-contractor co-ordination meetings
  • Determines the correct site layout
  • Complies with the construction programme and bar chart
  • Ensures adherence to agreed programmes by holding regular meetings with sub-contractors and suppliers
  • Compiles resource chart with detailed activity programme.
  • Compiles plant, material and labour schedule from the bar chart and requisition plant, labour and materials
  • Adheres to company administration policies
  • Liaises and corresponds with consulting team and Sub-Contractors
  • Completes requisitions for materials or resources
  • Monitors requisitions until items are delivered
  • Files documentation in accordance with procedures
  • Manages the administration relating to plant control
  • Ensures that the site instruction book is maintained
  • Administers day works, site instructions and variation orders
  • Monitors costs versus allowables
  • Implements corrective actions if negative
  • Fortnightly cost and allowable forecasting
  • Applies effective work methods to beat allowables
  • Ensures that wastage is kept to the minimum
  • Adherence to ISO 9001, 14001, 18001
  • Compile, issue, monitor, follow up and close out R.F.I’s within scheduled time frame and as per procedures
  • Accurate progress reporting fortnightly
  • Interprets construction drawings
  • Adheres to the sequence of operation
  • Provides efficient methods to do the work
  • Determines effective construction activity, based on knowledge of the interaction between staff, materials, machines and money
  • Liaises, negotiates and consults with consulting team and client regarding details, time frames, resources and budget
  • Compiles a programmer with the team in order to meet deadlines
  • Measures sub-contractor requirements against programme.
  • Ensures that sub-contractors have enough resources to meet the programme requirements.
  • Ensures that set targets are met
  • Ensures that timeframes and timelines of work programmes are adhered to
  • Ensures implementation of the ITP inspection and test plan
  • Ensures that remedies are carried out on defective work
  • Chairs site management meeting and sub-contractors meeting
  • Understands the contract documentation and specifications
  • Ensures that quality assurance plan is implemented
  • Completes tasks correctly and to specification on the first attempt.
  • Ensures that sub-contractors work to specification and good building practice


  • Degree in civil
  • Project programming skills (CCS or MS Projects)
  • Microsoft Office
  • Construction Knowledge
  • Labour practices within the construction environment
  • Internal staff policies and disciplinary procedures
  • Working knowledge of construction records and information systems
  • Working knowledge of construction aspects
  • Knowledge of the operation sequence
  • Knowledge relating to material tests.
  • Contractual working knowledge of construction contracts
