About this Job

Global mobile surveying platform working primarily in the developing world, is looking for a Key Accounts Director to join our Johannesburg team to. The ideal candidate will be part of a team building expanding and consolidating the client base for commercial and partnership client portfolios. The candidate must have the ability to juggle and execute on a diverse set of responsibilities within an exciting, fast-growing, technology company.  

We have excellent relationships with many great national brands is well entrenched with our core customers as the research resource of choice for brands. There are more than 1000 brands who would benefit from Insights – who we have not yet spoken to! The opportunity is to use the past experience, networks and contacts to build and manage a client portfolio make contact with the decision makers at these companies, understand their business and inject mobile based research methodologies into these clients adding to the growth of the region.

Account Leadership
  • Client Development and Management
  • Understands clients’ strategy and business drivers
  • Handles simple client project queries regarding research inputs and outputs
  • Instigates regular reviews of monitoring of client satisfaction and acts to make things better
  • Identifies business opportunities through conversations with the client and alerts appropriate business development teams
  • Manages clients to ensure scope creep and slippages are avoided, managed and/or paid for
  • Displays a strong understanding of Mobile research service offerings across whole business to clients and industry
  • Ensures knowledge of the client’s organizations and market/industry is used to deliver actionable and impactful insights/ Growth summaries
  • Ensures the range of the  services are presented to and understood by the clients
  • Sponsors and drives new business generation process with both new and existing clients to generate a consistent stream of impactful and profitable proposals for the clients
  • Maintain and nurture client relationships
  • Able to draft client plans (30 days, 90 days, 180 days, 12m)
  • Obtain new briefs from clients
  • Identification and development of new clients and continued growth of existing clients through ongoing research excellence and relevant expertise.
  • Recognize opportunities to generate requests for proposals, maximising if possible
  • Maximising opportunities to sell and cross sell
  • Responsible for negotiations with client over changes impacting on original brief
  • Actively promotes sharing the  offer with the clients
  • Source of knowledge on industry developments
  • Represent at Events and promote thought leadership in Mobile research methodology

Research Experience


Proposal, Design, Costing and Sampling
  • Understand all sampling approaches used in the company and their implications for project design, implementation and research outcome
  • Responsible for turning complex research approaches into workable & profitable solutions

  • Provide high level client and business issue input into questionnaire design to ensure client business questions are being answered

Project Management
  • Determines tasks and actions for the team
  • Manages and evaluates team progress

Project Administration
  • Management of; no additional / direct responsibilities

Analysis and Insights
  • Ensuring client deliverables meet client expectations and needs; deliver excellence
  • Design & facilitate insight generation & creative concept development
  • Checks that data has been interrogated appropriately to meet objectives
  • Constant delivery of strong consumer insights to clients

Provide sound guidance on analysis techniques and “finding the story”, finalise and ensure strategic content of conclusions and recommendations, always adding value to research results
  • Generate insight and recommendations that demonstrate knowledge of client’s ecosystem
  • Communication
  • Responsible for presentation of clear and accurate reports, presentations and proposals
  • Is able to develop strong relationships with all internal clients (at a senior level) based on trust in expertise and insight shown
  • Clearly and persuasively communicate complex issues, internally and externally




  • Requirements
    • Smart and passionate with the desire to work in a research start-up environment
    • Must have a strong research industry network across agency and CMI direct
    • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to follow through and execute on tasks in a pro-active, timely manner
    • Must be independent and self-starter, but able to take direction
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Must have an interest in emerging research technologies
    • Must be able to work towards achieving regional targets
    • Driven and deadline orientated
    • Experience with MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel required
    • A Bachelor’s degree in business market research, and/or other related fields
    • 5 years’ experience in research Account Management or as an Account Director
    • Target driven
