Our Human Resources team is looking for a trustworthy, innovative and passionate HR Leader who is client-centric and who has the ability to align with the company vision and culture, while challenging, motivating, and developing self and team in order to attract, train, care for, retain and inspire better people.

Our ideal candidate will be self-motivated and zealous about performance and will have the high energy levels required for this fast-paced, exciting and dynamic retail environment

This position will be based in Woodmead JHB at the regional office. 


The main purpose of this role is to lead the Regional HR team and to ensure the execution of holistic HR solutions that empower the region to achieve its strategic objectives.


Role Responsibilities:

    • Work in close partnership with the HR Leadership Team, in full support of the operational and strategic HR plans for Retail Operations

        • Provide input to and implement action plans to achieve agreed business objectives in line with Company principles and values

        • Create and execute a regional HR operational plan and solutions to ensure that all HR services are delivered within agreed upon timelines, set national standards

        • Partner and collaborate with the Regional Operations Leaders and teams to effectively and innovatively implement, maintain and enhance HR solutions and ensure the achievement of Regional Operation goals in line with the Company strategy

        • Conduct root cause analysis of risks and create action plans to mitigate risks.

    • Lead, manage and develop a high-performing HR team to reach their full potential within their respective areas

    • Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships

        • Be a trusted advisor to all stakeholders across the business

        • Keep abreast of and align to stakeholder requirements in order to meet their HR needs

        • Assess service delivery by maintaining regular interactions with business stakeholders

        • Coach stakeholders to ensure Line Leaders are equipped and skilled to manage and lead their team members effectively

        • Act as a change agent to ensure effective implementation of changes within the business

        • Partner with HR stakeholders to initiate and improve the effective delivery of HR practices and solutions, while integrating and sharing best practices

        • Assess HR service delivery by maintaining regular interactions with business stakeholders.

    • Drive and maintain our culture and team member experiences

        • Implement effective induction and on-boarding of all new starters

        • Enable and drive a culture of high performance, feedback, learning, development and positive morale

        • Support and drive the annual culture survey initiatives

        • Ensure all team member queries are managed and resolved in a proactive and timely manner

        • Conduct sound off-boarding processes and practices including exit interviews and post-exit follow-ups and reporting

    • Effectively and accurately perform and control administrative, analysis & reporting functions:

        • Facilitate efficient, timeous and accurate HR, payroll and employee benefits administration

        • Ensure that all payroll queries are resolved timeously

        • Maintain effective and efficient team member record keeping and filing

        • Compile discussion records, minutes & reports

        • Compile, maintain and analyse HR analytics in order to optimize decision-making

    • Keep abreast of trends, legislation aimed at managing organizational change, engaging employees, increase organizational effectiveness and best practices within the HR industry to optimize service delivery.

    • Support and participate in the execution of HR projects and interventions

    • Drive continuous improvement and self-development

    • Execute and deliver on ad-hoc duties and responsibilities


Experience & Qualifications

    • Matric with a relevant tertiary qualification is important

    • A post graduate qualification in a related field is advantageous

    • A minimum of 10 years Generalist Human Resources experience is required

        • Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in a similar role within the Retail environment

    • 4-5 years of experience leading a high-performance HR team of 9 or more is essential

    • Strong experience and sound understanding of best practices and trends in the following categories is essential for this role:

        • Recruitment & selection

        • Induction and Onboarding

        • Talent and performance management

        • Facilitating effective employer/e and industrial relation practices

        • Best practice offboarding processes

        • Consulting and advisory

        • Human Resource Information Systems

        • Payroll and remuneration practices and systems

        • SARS and Tax processes and requirements

        • Benefit principles

    • A valid driver’s license and own vehicle is required

    • Microsoft Office proficiency is a key requirement
