Job description


Ninety9cents is a full service, integrated advertising agency located in Cape Town, and is one of South Africa’s largest independently-owned agencies. Led by founder and Managing Director Andrew Brand, the agency’s extensive client base includes leading brands such as Shoprite/Checkers, Ackermans, PUMA, Spur Group and Distell, to name a few. We are looking for a talented ATL Copywriter to join our team.

Summary of main duties include but not limited to:
  • Translate a brief and the strategic requirements into a compelling creative solution
  • Present work to the Creative Group Head and/or Creative Director
  • Together with an Art Director, generate effective, innovative and compelling creative concepts for individual adverts or campaigns based on sound strategies
  • Write copy for radio, tv, print and electronic / digital media
  • Write and produce for radio
  • Direct and produce effective, impactful and compelling advertising that reflects insight into the task, the brand and the target market
  • Direct radio towards a high quality final product
  • Keep abreast of creative trends and opportunities
  • Take ownership of your tasks and actively manage the creative process to progress towards deadline


Requirements

  • A tertiary qualification in Copywriting and /or Advertising
  • At least 2 years copywriting experience within an advertising agency
  • portfolio of evidence that reflects creative copywriting proficiencies
  • Proficient in MS Word / PowerPoint / Keynote
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Finely honed copywriting skills – ability to write imaginative, broad, intrusive, creative and original work that demonstrates creative insights and brilliance for client solutions across all media platforms
  • Understand advertising as a selling tool  
  • Ability to work within a team as well as independently
  • Ability to remain calm in a highly pressurized environment
  • Assertive

  • Great sense of humour
  • Ability to accept guidance and respond well to criticism
