Overview of job description

The role is aimed at being a primary support to the managing director of MEA. Overseeing not only new business opportunities for the Incubeta group in the South African and Middle East market but also supporting the entire client services team to ensure profitable growth of the existing South African book of business. The role requires experience in translating technical, media and creative solutions into business value, business development and people relationship management. The business development and customer value manager will possess great organisational competencies, strong written and oral skills and be able to work in teams across the full MEA client portfolio.

The main objective is supporting the Managing Director in driving strategic business growth by making sure Incubeta services are packaged, sold & delivered profitably within the region. The Business Development and Customer Value Manager will also look to develop potential new B2B partnership opportunities (such as agency-specific collaborations) They will also drive a select portfolio of identified clients to increase overall P&L GP and provide solution support to the broader client services team in organically growing existing clients.

  • Reports directly to the managing director
  • Works closely with the head of client service and the client services team
  • Works closely with the operations director and the global consulting and operations team


Role and responsibilities

The responsibilities are inclusive of, but not limited to the following:
  • Business development
      • Handle all in-bound Google leads
      • Assist the Managing Director with new business pitches (RFI’s, RFP’s and new business proposals) across all Incubeta services
      • Develop Incubeta service one-pagers across all our service offerings to be shared with and explained to the client services team
      • Development of new B2B GP/service lines (e.g. agency partnership strategy)
  • Portfolio growth
      • The Business Development and Customer Value Manager will be responsible for driving growth strategies for key identified clients. This growth needs to be delivered in collaboration with the respective client leads. The key client focuses will be reviewed and agreed quarterly
      • A GP target will be determined against which the Business Development and Customer Value Manager will be incentivised & measured
  • Client service support
    • Articulate business value to bespoke Incubeta solutions and assist client leads to package this to their clients
    • Provide ad-hoc strategic support to the client services team in terms of articulating the business value behind the solutions across Incubeta’s full service offering across technology, media and content.
    • Support in doing benefits realisation for existing clients (e.g. support into quarterly reviews for key/tier 1 clients)
Key competencies and work ethic
  • Self-starter - This role will not be micromanaged and it is important that the Business Development & Customer Value Manager is proactive in their approach to the role. There is an expectation that where no precedent exists, that the consultant creates the required framework. Taking ownership of their own KPIs and driving to business value
  • Positive influence – A positive team member who keeps the other team members motivated. Demonstrates understanding of the importance of team morale and a healthy happy culture 
  • Operational efficiency – Someone who can spread themselves across multiple tasks simultaneously by working smartly, efficiently and effectively
  • Meticulous – While we want someone who is efficient, they also need to pay attention to all the details and ensure all they dot the I’s and cross the T’s. This requires a strong sense of pride in their work and ensuring that all output goes through rigorous quality control. Organisation is key on these portfolios
  • Time management - Identify the urgent and important tasks and priorities to ensure delivery to client and other stakeholders 
  • Interpersonal skills – We need someone who can build relationships both internally and externally. Working as a team to articulate and then deliver business value through strategic solutions
