Job description
Our business is growing and we are on the hunt for senior PR account managers (SAM) to join the team, who are passionate about innovation, disruption and the tech start-up ecosystem.
Do you have experience in PR, Marketing or Communications in the corporate innovations space and working with African entrepreneurs to help grow their brands and achieve their business objectives?
Our SAM will need to have client engagement experience, be able to provide strategic counsel to clients to aid to their PR and wider marketing campaigns, write content and drive media relations. Internal briefs and managing junior team members to achieve client deliverables and objectives will also be key for this role. Writing own content is a non-negotiable.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:- Providing strategic counsel to clients to aid their PR and wider marketing campaigns
- Coming up with positive news coverage about clients or products
- Cooperating with clients and media on a daily basis to come up with news content
- Researching, drafting, and issuing press releases to the news media and blogs
- Building strong relationships with clients, the media, and other employees in the company
- Constantly monitoring the news media, social media, and blogs to find new opportunities for clients
- Working with the accounts team to craft client proposals and help implement PR activities
- Attending client meetings and preparing reports for clients
- Building relationships with existing and new clients
- Liaising with clients regarding press campaigns, creative projects, and PR solutions
- Providing innovative and creative ideas to clients
- Briefing clients and updating them on press campaigns
- Analyzing PR coverage and providing written reports
- Communicating effectively with a range of stakeholders
- Drive key media coverage for your clients
- Quality assures delivery of the team and its outputs including proposals and pitches
- Anticipates and assists in developing solutions to client needs and problems
- Acts as a partner to the client and facilitates and supports their success: both strategically and operationally
- Writes and inputs internal briefs into the system
- Manage the distribution/pitching of content and management of media inquiries, secure speaking opportunities
- Document external client status meetings and internal team status meetings
- Media relations: establish relationships with key media and secure coverage on behalf of clients.
- Reviews and evaluates work against the central question, the roadmap, and the brief
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in PR, communications, journalism, or similar relevant field
- Has a background in PR, communications, stakeholder management, or consulting
- 4-6 years experience
- A passion for the media, including social media
- Good industry knowledge and experience in building influential networks
- Solid computer prowess and project management skills
- An outstanding organisation with an ability to manage multiple projects and portfolios
- Knows how to evaluate and provide feedback on the work in order to drive quality and effectiveness
- High levels of communication - both presentation, verbal, and written skills
- Impressive emotional intelligence and interpersonal expertise
