Job description

We seek a strong, office-based technical writer to research, write, structure and occasionally edit technical teaching material. You would need to be comfortable learning and writing about how to use and support new technologies including hardware, software and gadgets. If you are professionally-minded and relish the challenge, this could be an interesting new career opportunity.

You would create e-learning content for our international client, a major manufacturer of laptops, desktops and tablets. You would work as part of a team researching and writing learning material relating to hardware and software support, for online delivery to our client's global workforce.

In the process, you would gain a broad grounding in a 'technical writing' or 'instructional design' career - one that we hope you will grow in with us, but that you can also ply almost anywhere in the world. The work is on site in the Cape Town CBD. Freelancers are not eligible.

Company Description

You would be based full-time at our offices in the Cape Town CBD, near Greenmarket Square. Initial training is provided, followed by on-the-job guidance from experienced colleagues. Laragh Courseware, with a staff complement of more than 50 people, has been operating successfully in Cape Town for over 22 years.

Requirements

  • You must have a University degree.
  • You will have to demonstrate excellent English writing skills, starting with your letter of application.
  • You must be able to research and structure technical material, quickly and sensibly.
  • You must have an eye for detail, and be able to edit written content to adhere to a specific House Style.
  • You must be a fast learner, unafraid of getting to grips with subject matter that will often be new to you.
  • You will need to be comfortable working with hardware prototypes.
