Hospital/Medical Secretary

Remuneration:R33000 - R35000 per month

Your duties will include: 
  • Courteously and efficiently receive all telephone enquiries from patients, carers and external agencies in relation to hospital admissions, appointments and general enquiries, ensuring that accurate records, both manual and electronic, are maintained and appropriate action is taken in a timely manner
  • Send letters out to patients 
  • Typing and distributing the nurse rota for clinics 
  • Daily liaison with other hospitals, clinics and pathology labs 
  • Audio typing – urgent letters and admin queries 
  • Sorting of mail 
  • Work closely with the outpatients, admissions team, ward, endoscopy and reception team 
  • Taking patient payments and liaising with Medical Aids 
  • Assist with editing and proofreading of typed documents 
  • Maintaining discretion and patient confidentiality at all times 

Minimum requirements: 
  • MS Office experience 
  • Audio and touch typing- You will be a competent and confident typist with typing speeds of at least 50 WPM
  • Excellent verbal and written communication 
  • We are looking for organised and efficient candidate with a resilient nature 
  • Ability to prioritise daily work 
  • You will need to be positive, enthusiastic and self-motivating with a superb eye for detail and a courteous telephone manner and ability to manage your time effectively 
  • Previous experience working in a hospital setting is desirable but not essential 
  • Be flexible, enthusiastic and committed
