Blurred lines... how the vicious internet is creating a vicious world
'The internet is creating a vicious world'?I hope you're satirising. If not, I could use your logic to argue that laser printers result in typos, cars are the cause of drunk driving, and chocolate compels people to become fat.On its face, your article *is* entertaining. But it's also flawed enough to raise questions about your objectivity. The internet hasn't made people more vicious. It's simply enabled freer public expression of viciousness. Viciousness goes back at least as far as warfare, and the earliest known evidence of war dates to approximately 14 000 years ago. All it took to find that out was a 30-second Google search. This article doesn't boost your credibility as a marketing maven, and your call for internet censorship is frankly sinister. At worst, this article could trigger speculation that you're being paid to push an agenda on behalf of a political client. My personal theory is that you don't get out of the house enough. Or that you've spent too many years banging out 5 000-word space-fillers on deadlines that are way too tight.

The modern marketing conundrum
I suppose your defence of coercive marketing is understandable, given your propensity for coercive (and self-serving) argument.Your stance on relentless marketing – Spam, by any other name – depends on a false dilemma; on an absurd either/or proposition that states ‘Submit to marketing. If you don’t, the economy will collapse’.It may not have occurred to you that society doesn’t exist to serve your interests. That it consists of human beings who are tired, overwhelmed and overloaded with information. That it might be seeking respite from the relentless demands for attention that people like you foist on it.So, instead of trying to glut the monster of Wanting More, maybe you should give people space to be content with what they have.Your indignation at not being allowed to do whatever you want is the reason why checks and balances like the CPA Commission and DMA exist. It is why E-mail interfaces have ‘Report Spam’ buttons. Why Android phones have an ‘Add to Reject List’ option. Why CAPTCHA was invented. Why call screening applications are so popular. Why E-mail newsletters are required to have ‘Unsubscribe’ links.Your argument is the marketing equivalent of a drunk oaf at the party hearing “No!” from a girl and sticking his hand down her panties, anyway. Predictably, oafs like that were responsible for a pushback: the #Metoo movement. It should not be this difficult for you to say Sorry and re-think your position when the girl knees you in the nuts.Or, when her rugby-forward boyfriend takes you outside for a friendly chat. It’s nothing personal, Ms. Gunko.Rejection of your attempts at marketing is not an attack on your (or anyone else’s) right to free enterprise. It’s a statement by your customer base that we’ve had enough, and we’re showing you the door.

The Bank Ombudsman is now your one-stop shop for all banking-related complaints
My personal experience is that the ombudsman accepts the bank's version in a dispute and rubber stamps the bank's decision

N'ku'cooked or UN'Nku'cooked? What went wrong with the Pick n Pay ad?
Still not sure what went wrong? Would like to see better market research if you take on a topic like this!

New VR technology to make SA forestry chainsaw training safer
I'm very impressed - VR will be particularly useful for training within the construction industry - for example angle grinder training.

10 most censored countries
Unfortunately, The Republic of Turkey should be on this list, probably leading with the most number of journalists behind bars, number of media outlets shut down. Utter pity for a country that was once the example of democracy in the Middle East.

Why making mobile data cheaper is vital to kickstarting startup sector
Mobile app startups often focus on just one idea, forgetting about important factors that lead to its success. But one idea alone may not be enough to hit the market. You should build an app specifically to provide value to your target audience, which you can only do by planning UI / UX and content well. During the planning phase, ask yourself the following questions:
