Building a brand purpose beyond a TV ad message
They nailed it! They ticked all the boxes- it's a generational brand, it's passed on through important, significant, memorable moments of love. Making their own flour is such a flex though! They control the story right from the beginning - every step from the grain to your table.

Vaccine passports may be on the way - but are they a reason for hope or a cause for concern?
I am not going to be vaccinated with a formula that has such limited testing. Masks cannot work and no digital app will track me. This virus will not go away if it is a virus so it will be here for life. Mor

We're a digital agency and we prefer working IRL
Great article Fabio, and thank you for sharing. Seth Godin talks about the concept of "Ideas worth Sharing" and its stems around the bases that your idea might not be exactly on point, but when you discuss your idea with others, it could trigger a thought or idea that someone else has that solves a challenge in your original idea. But, this can only happen in casual environment were conversations can flow and ideas can be born- he mentioned the water coolers as the best place for ideas to grow. Second to this, is Simon Sinks belief that we are "tribal beings" which means that we are meant to be surrounded by people, our tribes. We were not supposed to be isolated or separated from our teams, tribes etc as we actually thrive off each others energy. Personally, I actually need my tribes energy and excitement, to fuel me, and in return to fuel my team, hence I resonate with your article so much.

Should you ditch the promotional flyers?
Hi Andrew. Thank you for your points. You do raise an interesting segment of the market that I had not included in my article. And your points are very insightful on the way this segment of the market operates and responds to physical ads.I can see from the data you shared that you have experience in this market segment. Thank you for sharing in the discussion and giving the readers an insight into that.Again, thank you for sharing.

Should you ditch the promotional flyers?
Great article and awesome insights. However the township market still heavily relies on flyers and similar print collateral when looking for deals or specials as per their sought after product | service purchasing plans. We still have a long way to go to have a mass digitally integrated population in South Africa.

Should you ditch the promotional flyers?
Hi Brad, Great article, and in certain respects I do agree with some of your findings. Having spent almost a year researching the viability of general printed catalogues as well as flyers, I found that, against what I wanted to believe (which was that these should be digital and thus allow for less printing, instant updates, communication on social media etc) there is still a need and want for both printed catalogues and flyers. The facts from the feedback were simple. The general public in the lower income bracket will physically pick up and also write on the flyers. They will go through the printed catalogues and earmark the products that are on special that they want to purchase (they will also then calculate this before they even enter the store, as they have budgeted accordly for these particular items) They will in some cases take the actual printed flyer to the store as a "record of proof" that they would like that specific item, at that specific price. Most of these people do not have easy access to data, and majority are not on social media platforms, again due to data charges. It is therefore based on the market to which these flyers are attracting their clients, with deals to bring them into their stores.

FSCA takes first steps in the regulation of crypto assets
I don't understand why crypto wallets do not have to be FICA's if currency is bought with Rands, norwhy cypto account service providers do not have to have FAIS licences, like Unit Trusts? They should fall under existing legislation already.

Treasury's decision to cancel S12J investments - throwing the baby out with the bathwater
S12J investors should have been more willing to put their money into new ventures with a slightly higher risk. As a consultant to startups, I encountered too many S12J Funds who considered new ventures too risky without even investigating properly. It was far too easy to go for the tried and tested property schemes - oops, sorry Covid burst that bubble, but sad as it is to lose the incentive the S12J funds have only themselves to blame.

Dual pricing implemented for non-South African, South African residents at Kirstenbosch Garden
The absolute idiocy of this move! This should make everybody in tourism in South Africa rise up in revolt. Double pricing is a tourist trap rip-off. People come to SA partly because they see it as a value-for-money destination. This move will end THAT perception. Also, any brand reputation person will tell you it's very bad to tell international guests that they're so much trouble they need to pay more than locals.Time to change the name of South Africa to Shoot-Ourselves-In-The-Foot Africa

Questions surrounding the Covid-19 Ters scheme extension
I am concerned as a Debt Collector, as i've been impacted since the lockdown March 2020. Everyone always talks about certain sectors but never about the Debt Collectors. Our income has also dropped by almost 75% and we are at continued risk to do our jobs. Most debtors who we have to collect debt from are also impacted, either by being now unemployed, short time etc....So what now about us..
