These five US companies offer flex jobs for disabled and homebound workers

Although there are strong labor laws in effect for people with disabilities, few companies go beyond federal requirements for making the workplace accessible. This typically means providing specific types of restrooms with wide doors and ramps in lieu of stairs so that the disabled can enter the workplace. There are, however, top companies that go above and beyond what is mandated by law.

Not only do they make every effort to make access easy, but they also offer flexible working arrangements so that some severely disabled or home-bound workers can work from the convenience of their homes. Here are five of the top US companies that offer flex jobs for disabled and home-bound workers.

1. IBM

One of the great benefits of working for a tech giant like IBM is the fact that they do offer flexible working arrangements. This is absolutely ideal for seniors who have been forced out of the workplace and disabled workers who have an extensive background in digital technology. Even those who are bedridden can work from a laptop on something like an Integrant atHand table complete with power and USB connectivity.

2. Kaiser Permanente

While not exactly offering flex jobs from home, Kaiser Permanente does have the availability of freelance work. It pays to communicate with HR because disabled workers may be able to find gigs in Medical Billing or data entry. An organisation this large may have a myriad of positions available for freelancers of all kinds from sales to support staff.

3. Proctor & Gamble

Over the years, Proctor & Gamble has become a household name in the United States. This industry giant best known for household goods and a large variety of food items offers remote jobs which can be handled by disabled, homebound and senior workers.

4. Lockheed Martin

Anyone in the shipping or aeronautics industries knows this name like they know the back of their hands. Lockheed Martin does have yards across the nation, but they also offer remote work for those who cannot access an office easily.

5. Prudential

As one of the oldest insurance companies in the US, Prudential is also a household name. Having ventured into financial products of all kinds over the years, Prudential is huge in the personal wealth building arena. Not only do they offer remote work but also freelance jobs for the disabled.

For the Health of a Nation

With so many displaced workers after the Great Recession and a huge number of disabled and senior workers able to handle support jobs from home, it is great news that there are so many corporate giants in almost every industry that have remote work packages available.

These are just five of the top US companies with flexible working packages to offer. With healthcare in crisis, a nation politically divided at extreme opposite poles, many companies have put full-time hiring on hold as well. Flex jobs may be just what the doctor ordered to keep the economy healthy and whole.
