What you need to do before selling your iPhone

Today, it is very rare to find someone without a phone, for that matter, a smartphone. Over the recent years, they have become very affordable, which has made it easier for everyone to access them. One of the most sought out types of phones today is the iPhone. In as much as it is on the pricier end, there are die-hard fans of the iPhone. The moment one is released to the market, they want to own it almost immediately and, if you can, why not? But what do you do with your old phone? Archive it or sell it? Fortunately, the value of the iPhone still remains even when you decide to sell it off.
However, before doing so, here are a few things that you need to do:

1. Unpair your iPhone

As a die-hard fan of Apple products, chances are very high that you also own an apple watch. As such, when wanting to get rid of your old iPhone, you should make sure that you unpair it. Keep in mind that you can only pair it with one device at a time, meaning that for you to be able to pair it with your new iPhone, you have to unpair with the old one.

2. Do some backup

Living in a fast-paced world, everything seems to be mobile optimised these days. With the iPhone, you are able to go about your business easily when it comes to sending emails, making calls, sending texts and so on. As such, you will find that your phone has tons of information that is valuable to you that you wouldn’t want to lose. Therefore, it would only be safe if you backed up all your data. You can do so by backing it up on iCloud or iTunes. After doing so, countercheck to confirm that the backup has taken place. You do not want to start deleting things on your iPhone only to realise that the backup wasn’t successful.

3. Turn off iCloud and Find my iPhone

IPhones have very tight security measures in that if you forget turning off iCloud or the Find my iPhone feature, the next buyer will not be able to use the phone. As such, you want to ensure that you turn off the two features before putting your iPhone on sale in the market.

4. Factory reset your iPhone

The next thing you want to do is to factory reset your phone. Basically, this is to return the iPhone into its default settings, more like how you received it for the first time. By doing so, all your data on the iPhone will be deleted, including your contacts, photos, emails, applications, text messages and call logs. The good thing is that if you had backed up all your data, you do not have to worry that you have lost anything. The moment you get your new phone, you will be able to download all your backed up data for free and continue running your new iPhone just like before.

5. Find the right platform to sell your phone

Lastly, find the right platform to sell your iPhone. While doing this, you want to take your time and compare the selling prices on different platforms. Of course, you want the best value for your old iPhone, regardless of the fact that you will be getting a new one. Also, be sure that the site you choose is a legitimate seller.

If you have been planning to sell your old iPhone, follow the above steps first before letting it go.
