Easy Waves embarks on an edutainment roadshow at high schools

Easy Waves together with Zinto Marketing Group (Zinto) recently visited high schools with a quick-paced, high-energy edutainment show that incorporates music and theatre to teach teenagers about the importance of personal care, hygiene and grooming, as well as developing their self-confidence.

The show uses industrial theatre and a team of creative talent to showcase an entertaining and informative piece which speaks a language that teens can easily relate to. Additionally, the visual nature of the show transcends communication barriers.

The purpose of the show is to educate and raise awareness among female and male learners about taking pride in their appearance. The script motivates them to embrace their individuality giving them the comfort and assurance they need to exude self-confidence.

The campaign also addresses social issues that the youth are facing such as drug and alcohol abuse, bullying and the associated verbal and physical effects, as well as teenage pregnancy.

Zinto's team of performers interact with the youth who are given an opportunity to perform on stage revealing their confidence through an art form of their choice - be it music, dance, acting, mime or the spoken word - and win a branded prize, such as bags, cosmetics, lip balm, scarfs, umbrellas and hair products from Easy Waves.

A competition element called "Ask Kim" is being run alongside the educational roadshow and includes a multimedia application whereby the learners are motivated to complete a quiz which links their personality type to a product from the Easy Waves range. They then have to motivate how Easy Waves makes them feel more confident. Each week, 10 lucky winners will receive R100 airtime to top up their cellphone account or the equivalent to convert into data. Every month, two entrants stand a chance to win attire for their matric dance.

Michelle Combrinck, a former teacher and CEO of Zinto says, "The roadshow is enjoyed and well received by both girls and boys. It is a very formal and relevant show that makes use of clear and concise visuals and narratives, and the knowledge imparted is understandable. The learners are captivated by the presentation as the information is adapted to their level."

Post the school visit, learners are encouraged to visit social media platforms such as Mxit, Facebook and Twitter and continue to express themselves through these communication channels and engage and interact with the brand.

The Easy Waves roadshow will be visiting schools across Gauteng until 30 October 2013 and next year's drive begins in February 2014.
