Baba en Kleuter gets reclothed

Premium Afrikaans parenting magazine Baba en Kleuter is celebrating a refreshed look and new editorial content in the August 2007 issue, now on shelf.

The revamped Baba en Kleuter includes new features on celebrity parenting, food, recipes and nutritional advice for busy parents, décor, finances as well as true stories documenting experiences of other parents. “In addition,” says editor Helen Shöer, “we're introducing a host of new columnists, including musician and recent dad Valiant Swart.”

Commenting on the redesign, Shöer says that the new look of Baba en Kleuter is uncluttered, with a classic typography for easy reading and reference, the objective being to enhance the overall reading experience.

"Big three"

“Everything our readers expect from Baba en Kleuter is still there,” says Shöer. “The big three for all parents are of course development, sleep and nutrition and these are always covered in depth. Our regular niches for health, pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, parenting, relationships, family fun and a Dad's page will continue.”

Baba en Kleuter is allegedly the only Afrikaans parenting magazine in South Africa for couples with children in the age range between pre-conception up to Grade 1 and readership figures have shown consistent growth during the past four years.

The magazine, published by niche media house Alchemy Publishing, reports a readership in excess of 80 000 parents and, says publisher Liezl de Swaardt, it expects the new-look publication to increase circulation and market penetration. Alchemy also produces Your Baby, Your Child and Your Pregnancy magazines.
