Miles for Smiles youth day run
All the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Cipla Foundation Miles for Smiles initiative that raises funds for Operation Smile to facilitate corrective surgery on children born with cleft lips and palates. Approximately one in every 1000 babies in Africa is born with a cleft palate or lip, and one in 10 babies born with this condition will unfortunately not survive to celebrate their first birthday if they don’t get corrective surgery.
The event was started by Miltons Matsemela Attorneys in order to inspire people to make a difference on Youth Day while having fun and changing a child’s life – one smile at a time.
Everyone is welcome to join for a fun morning on the beach, says Fred Wille, Director at Miltons Matsemela Attorneys. “You can run, walk, or just be there to show your support. The online entry fee is R70, and entry on the day costs R90. All proceeds generated will be donated to Operation Smile for corrective surgeries. Online entries will also receive a free buff. Discovery Vitality members will also get 300 points for participating in the event.
We also invite corporate teams of up to 20 people to join in for a fee of R1500.”
