New editor for The Property Magazine

Sharon Preston will be taking over the reins as editor of Media Nova's PICA award-winning flagship consumer title The Property Magazine from December 2008. She replaces Ann Ellis Brown, who is stepping down for personal reasons.

Previously features editor for Woman & Home magazine, Preston started her career in publishing as a features writer for one of SA's iconic titles, Style in 1980. Also joining the editorial team as Cape Town bureau chief is Tamryn Bekker, formerly editor of Cape Etc and recently back in South Africa from a stint in New York with Conde Nast Publications.

Tony Vaughan, MD of Media Nova, said, “Ann has been a breath of fresh air for us and while we are sorry to say goodbye we are really excited to appoint Sharon and Tamryn to the editorial team. Publishing three regional editions of the magazine has brought us some interesting editorial challenges over the years.

“In appointing a Gauteng-based editor we made a strategic decision to fully exploit the true regional editorial potential of the magazine from a different perspective than in the past. Adding Tamryn to the mix together with Anne Schauffer, our long-term KZN bureau chief, makes for a really exciting team as we approach our 5th anniversary edition early next year.”

“I have absolutely loved working on The Property Magazine,” says Ellis Brown, “but I know I'm leaving it in safe hands. The two new appointments will definitely take the magazine to the next level.”

The Property Magazine brought home the PICA for Largely Free Distribution - Consumer magazines last week, adding it to its South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA) Property Magazine of the Year Award.
