Ge:Skenk is a bespoke gifting solutions business premised on a ‘pay-it-forward’ ideology. Each Bloomable Conscious Gift Box is curated by Ge:skenk to not only delight the recipient, but to support job creation, empower individuals, be gentle on the earth and to ensure a sustainable future for the South African social enterprise, non-profit or emerging entrepreneur who created it.
The business is headed up by creative director and entrepreneur Vicki Scheffel and seasoned marketer Flora Maloka. “We want to plough back a large percentage of the approximately R9 billion spent per annum on corporate gifts, most of which are imported goods - into social projects and local small businesses throughout South Africa,” says Scheffel. “We’ve now expanded this to provide Conscious Gift Boxes that are perfect for any gifting occasion.”
Bloomable MD Melissa Cumming says that the company had been looking to expand its gifting range, but needed to find the right partner to embody its values. Bloomable supports nearly 200 local businesses throughout the country through its online marketplace. “Bloomable is purpose-built to uplift small businesses and to stimulate the local economy, so we need to ensure that any gifting partner we add can compliment our purpose. Ge:Skenk is that partner,” she explains.
