This brings the partners' educational investment to R1.5m. Added to this, they also contributed R1.35m towards Covid-19 relief efforts. Hollywoodbets also donated a new seven-seater car to aid the Lighthouse Foundation in delivering essential supplies to vulnerable South Africans.

“At the beginning of 2020, Hollywoodbets came together with the Lighthouse Foundation to hand over R500,000 in bursaries to students across the country. We are, therefore, extremely excited to now make R1m available to the youth of South Africa for 2021 through our partnership.

Values aligned

"Recent statistics showed the high unemployment rate of our South African youth, with a significant number of them being graduates. We, therefore, pride ourselves on the fact that we can offer employment opportunities to our bursars. Ubuntu is one of our primary focuses as a company, which also closely aligns with the values of Miss Mbatha’s Lighthouse Foundation. The foundation is doing fantastic work for our communities and we are grateful to be able to partner them along their journey of creating light for many vulnerable people,” said Sandisiwe Bhengu, operations executive of Hollywoodbets.

Bursary applications open to students in need of assistance, from settling registration and unpaid fees to accommodation for the year.
