From modest beginnings, local wineries have blossomed into a diverse and popular group, from garagiste through boutique to co-operative, making fruity whites, rosés, robust reds, blends and soetes. Along with new vintages, most cellars will offer discounts on purchases. Gastronomic finger food, from wraps and pita to bruschettas and sushi will complement in style.
The restaurant choice in McGregor keeps expanding, and the venues will be creating special festival weekend menus. Other attractions include trail runs and live entertainment, and big-screen television for rugby fans.
Spring comes early to this part of the Cape, so almond and apricot blossom will compete with the colourful vygies on the koppies for the attention of the honeybees.
The entrance fee is R50, which includes tasting glass and wine tastings.
