Kobus Verhoef of Gravitron worked with art director Sarah Jane Mould to build a 150m slip 'n slide running the length of Upper Long Market Street in the Bo-Kaap in Cape Town. To put that in context, the biggest waterslide in Africa, at uShaka Marine World in Durban, is only 18.5m high and 40m long.

"We never discussed the actual size at briefing stages," laughs Egg Films' producer Lisa Wilson. "We were all prepping for a realistic 20-45m slide, location depending. Metro were in agreement but Jason wanted more and it needed to be real."

Lisa praised unit manager Nigel Dennison and The Cape Town Film & Permit Office for landing the ideal location at such short notice.

She also profusely thanked the Bo-Kaap community for their patience, consideration and energetic enthusiasm. "They were unbelievably friendly and welcoming," she says. "The children in the Bo-Kaap loved the action, fun and especially the foam in the 'pool' at the end of the slide."

As a thank you to the community for their support in making the shoot possible, Egg donated two-way Motorola radios and torches to the Bo-Kaap's neighbourhood watch. The mattress foam used to create the slip 'n slide was donated to Al Noor Orphanage.

James Hosking from Left Post Production edited the spot, which was filmed by DOP Michael Cleary and cameraman Frank Gardner.

Executive creative director Pete Khoury, art director Wesley Phelan and copywriter Matt Edwards came up with the brief and crafted the spot with Jason.
