ABF raises more money for its members

The ABF (Advertising Benevolent Fund) has raised approximately R75,000 as a result of its latest fundraiser, the President's Cup 2013 which was held at The Wanderers Golf Club on 5 June 2013.
"A huge thanks to the marketing, advertising and communications industries for supporting our latest endeavour which helps us to assist industry members who may have been retrenched or find themselves in worse situations" says Sharlene Vallance of the ABF.

The golf day was well attended by the industry with a full field and great hole sponsors on the short par 3's. Holes sponsors supplied the field with drinks and kept up morale when the golf proved difficult.

"It was great to see old friends and familiar faces who came to participate in the golf day," she says. "Congratulations to the winners of the day, Will Smith from Ireland Davenport and James Johnston from Fusion Digital with a score of 45. Will Smith walked off with the famous President's Cup Trophy which he gets to display for the second year in a row."

ABF patron Andy Rice was MC for the day and hosted a small media auction.

"We would like to thank all our sponsors and participants for the day, especially Ad Outpost, The Media Shop and Ads24 who sponsored the dinner" says Sharlene.

"Without our sponsors who support us we would never be able to host a successful golf day. We are very grateful and really appreciate their continued assistance, the ABF looks after a myriad of families who have no other option but to rely on our continued help. The industry money goes directly to looking after these families and we encourage all advertising and media agencies to become members."

Everyone knows the ABF in the ad industry, well that's how it used to be. With the constant flow of fresh blood being injected into our industry, the ABF has seemed to be left in the forgotten realms of the minds of the veteran crews of advertising.
