ABF Scores a massive hit with 2011 Crazy Golf Day

The ABF Vital Support Fund hosted their annual crazy golf day on the 16 November 2011. The event was held at Kyalami Golf Course and was applauded as one of their best.
The theme for the golf day was 1980's TV series and hole sponsors were invited to decorate their areas and host themed activities. Hole sponsors included: Insight Outdoor, AdMad Media, Leisure Brands, EEZEESolutions, ComutaNet, WitColour, Beyond Red, Outdoor Network, Oxygen8, Barmotion, Ad Outpost, BMRS, Expovent, Capricorn Fm, Kitten Emporium and Tone Digital.

After careful deliberation and much input from the golfers themselves - WitColour was declared the winner of the coveted Best Hole Sponsor floating trophy, which was hotly contested.

"Other sponsors also contributed to the overall success of the golf day," says Sharlene Vallance, Executive committee member of the ABF Vital Support Fund. "Distell made a great impact by running the putting green competition and providing us with dinkies for our goody bags and a plethora of prizes. Insight Outdoor sponsored the goody bags which were appropriately cooler bags. Airport Media sponsored our band for the evening, Saving Silence and Compleo sponsored our ever popular passports."

Other sponsors also enhanced the day - Derryn Campbell sponsored four copies of her book 'Awesome South Africa' and Right-Side Entertainment wowed the crowds with their sponsorship of 'the Magic Man' who provided a great mixture of comedy and magic.

The advertising and media industry really pulled out all the stops to support the ABF Vital Support Fund. "We had over 45 four balls with a great mix of media owners and advertising agencies. We trust that everyone had a great time and enjoyed the golf day," says Sharlene. "The evening function with prize giving and Saving Silence was exceptional. The band got the dance floor moving and kept the party going until late into the night.

The ABF would like to thank each and everyone who played a part in the golf day. Our sponsors are a vital part of our events and they add enormous - we simply couldn't do it without them. We would like to thank them and look forward to seeing them again next year."

The ABF is a non-profit organisation helping those in the advertising, media and allied industries that have fallen on hard times. Amongst its many contributions, the ABF , in conjunction with Lifeline have a dedicated 24/7 call centre line for people in the Advertising, Media and related industries who need counselling or treatment for stress, HIV/AIDS and substance abuse problems. The ABF also provides study in the field to deserving, underprivileged students with institutions like the AAA School of Advertising.

Everyone knows the ABF in the ad industry, well that's how it used to be. With the constant flow of fresh blood being injected into our industry, the ABF has seemed to be left in the forgotten realms of the minds of the veteran crews of advertising.
