Itumeleng Mahabane, Lynette Ntuli and Matsi Modise, as well as award-winning Zimbabwean entrepreneur and blogger Nigel Mugamu, are among the leading names in South African and African public life to announce their participation. They will be compered by Master of Ceremonies, Jeremy Maggs, one of South Africa's best known broadcasters, journalists and former presenter of the hit television show, Who wants to be a millionaire?
The Convention constitutes the premier gathering of young minds in SA today, harnessing their talents and expertise and paying tribute to their outstanding leadership qualities.
Nigel Mugamu is one of them. His social media outfit, @263Chat, recently won the Use of Technology for Community Engagement category at the Telkom Highway Africa New Media Awards.
Mugamu uses social media to interact with people across the continent and beyond on issues affecting them and the communities they live in.
"Social media has enabled me to 'meet' a lot of interesting people, both African and non-African, based all over the world. The way I use social media might be unorthodox, but if I wanted to learn more about a particular country or region I would simply follow a few people from that country and/or region and engage them. I tend to look for fellow bloggers and/or people I refer to as 'opinion leaders' who aren't afraid of sharing their opinions openly," says Mugamu.
Itumeleng Mahabane has been working in media and communication for 14 years. He joined the international corporate communications partnership, Brunswick in September 2006 and his retained clients include the Industrial Development Corporation, ArcelorMittal South Africa, Liberty Group, Anglo American and MultiChoice Africa. At Brunswick he has worked on various major M&A transactions, and corporate defence projects.
Before joining Brunswick he was a partner at Spin Media, a Johannesburg-based communication consultancy, where he provided end-to-end communication advice to a number of state-owned enterprises. He was the lead advisor to Transnet, the state-owned freight and transport group, during a six month-long labour dispute over the group's restructuring plans. Other clients included South African Airways and Eskom, the electricity utility. Itumeleng also spent two years working as a communication consultant for the City of Johannesburg.
Lynette Ntuli, meanwhile, is a founding director and chief executive of the property, asset and infrastructure development and solutions firm, Innate Investment Solutions (Pty) Ltd.
Passionate about youth development and leadership, she is also a Founding Director and Chairman of IgniteSA.com.
A commerce graduate, Ntuli has previously held positions at Deloitte and Touché, Motseng Marriott Corporate Property, Motseng Property Services and the Durban Business Enhancement Initiative in various senior leadership roles in the commercial and retail property sector and in the business development and investment promotion arena.
Matsi Modise is an avid entrepreneurship activist and also the co-founder of Emerge (Pty) Ltd, a business development advisory company.
She has a background in Finance and her experience ranges from Investment Banking at Investec Bank Ltd, and Enterprise Development consulting for Standard Bank, Enterpriseroom, University of the Free State, Ndiza Finance and the National Empowerment Fund.
Modise has been involved in facilitating various mentorship programmes for SMME's in remote and rural areas of the country. She currently sits on the Free State province Land Use Advisory Board and is a member of the Institute of Business Advisors. In 2013 Matsi was inducted as the World Economic Forum Young Global Shaper.
