UNOCI organises 2010 public screenings

ABIDJAN: The United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI) has organised daily public screenings throughout Côte d'Ivoire matches of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The public screenings, which began on the 11 June when the tournament kicked off, aim to provide a forum for people to get together, exchange ideas as well as allow UNOCI to inform the population.

Joburg - get ready to party on the streets

Joburg Carnival is getting in early with its call, “Woza Africa 2010” with an explosion of sound, activity and colour when it takes over the city on New Year's Eve. Now in its sixth year, it is hosted by the City of Joburg and aims to create a safe and festive environment for end-of-year revelry, particularly among inner-city residents and the youth.

Tragedy occurs during Ivorian 2010 qualifier

Reports are that 130 people have been injured and 22 people are dead after a stampede at the Houphouet-Boigny stadium in Ivory Coast during a 2010 FIFA World Cup Qualifier on 29 March. FIFA has sent its condolences to the football community of that country.
